Recorders’ Forum

The need for a Recorders’ Forum was identified at the Recorders’ Day conference, February 2003. Recorders agreed that:

Since then, there has been no specific development within the Forum; attention has centred upon establishing the Partnership. Consultation with recorders has been taking place as part of the development planning process. A further meeting for recorders is planned for January 2005, at which an interim report based on the draft Development Plan will be discussed. This report will be circulated in November to help prompt feedback and discussion at the meeting.

Membership of the Forum is currently entirely informal and open to anyone who is active in biological recording or who has relevant data. It is unlikely that this will need to change. When more formal arrangements become necessary to oversee LRC establishment, for example by means of a steering group, the Forum will be asked to nominate representatives.

It is important that the Forum should discuss all relevant aspects of LRC operation. Your observations are always welcome by e-mail; please include ‘LRC’ or in the subject heading.
